Laura TENNANT (2001)

When I was in Year 9 at SCEGGS, my friends and I decided to enter the talent quest at camp. Our talent was dancing to the song “When the lights go out” by 5ive. We picked our 5ive characters to be- I was “J”, the rapper in the group.

We watched the video clip numerous times and had many dancing sessions, in order to perfect the dance. Getting up and performing in front of the whole grade was embarrassing but also hilarious.  We actually ended up winning the talent quest! This song and accompanied dance continued on in my life- I ended up teaching it to my brother (who was definitely in need of some dance lessons) and surprisingly, we both performed it at his wedding many years later!
