“The first term as a boarder seemed full of mysterious ritual to which we must conform. For instance, a Saturday outing required an “exeat” to be signed by Miss Wilkinson, filed in the Staff Room before departure and removed from the file on return. To remember all this called for some skill when one was new. Then there was roll call to attend twice daily and our music lessons and practices at appointed times.”
