“I started at S.C.E.G.G.S. in 1938, having arrived from Melbourne a short time before…Then the next year we were at war. In the early months everything was fairly remote; England and the battlefields were a long way away. However, I was asked by Miss Ogilvie to help with the School’s war effort and with more gusto than skill, organised the girls to make Bundles for Britain-scarves, balaclavas and baby clothes.”
